MTS
specialises in the development and manufacture of shock
wave systems for urology, orthopaedics and veterinary
applications. MTS are the inventors and exclusive
manufacturers of the U.S. patented Advanced
Electro-Hydraulic Technology (AEHT), which is a new
generation of shock wave system using the "Intelligent
Electrode". While in the past the quality of shock waves
appeared to be determined by the various technologies
used by different manufacturers, the vision of MTS is to
provide high quality shock waves based upon scientific
quality criteria.
The headquarters of the company is based in Germany at
Lake Constance, the "Silicon Valley" of shock wave
technology.
MTS
provide the following products related to shock wave
Orthopedics therapy:
-
OrthoWave 280 ®
-
OrthoWave 180 ®
Advanced
Electro-Hydraulic Technology (AEHT)
The patented AEHT system manufactured exclusively
by MTS, is based upon an electro hydraulic generator,
which uses the "Intelligent Electrode". The electrode is
a brand new shock wave generator with an automatically
adjustable spark-gap, which results in:
- a
constant spark during the entire treatment time
- improved efficiency (by 200 %)
- a very short rise time of 20 nanoseconds
- a unique minimal amplitude of tensile pressure (2 to
10 %)

Quality
The MTS system had been designed to generate shock
waves with a very high quality. The patented technology
is based on a completely new generation of device.
Scientific Quality Criteria for SHOCK WAVES:
Lithotripsy: M.J. COPTCOAT ET AL. , LITHOTRIPSY
II, p 16, Sept 1987, B.D.I. PUBLISHING, LONDON: "There
should be a very low content of tensile waves since this
is a possible source of tissue damage as we know from
the biological effects of ultrasound."
Orthopedics: ROMPE J.-D., EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCK
WAVE THERAPY, p 28, CHAPMAN & HALL, LONDON 1997:
"Acoustic energy / energy density are defined not only
by the positive pressure, but also by the negative
pressure. The decisive parameter for adverse effects is
the negative pressure. It is responsible for pain and
tissue damage by cavitations."
Four Quality Criteria met by MTS system:
-
positive pressure
- low tensile pressure
- short rise time
- constant shock wave
